School consumed most of my day, well, to be honest, all of my day. It started by having my name and picture posted on the marquee for all to see. That was exciting. My students were more excited that it was my birthday than I was. They brought in some cute gifts and cards which made me happy! All day long they kept asking things like, "Do we have to do math? It's your birthday, we should do something else." They thought all day long was a party.
During lunch one of my coworkers brought in brownies and ice cream (my favorite dessert)! My principal stopped in and was really worried to see us eating ice cream for lunch. We had to explain that it was my birthday. It was funny to see her a little confused. After lunch my sister Katie came in with cupcakes for my students. They loved having special visitors, especially my niece Paige. Paige dumped out one of the math manipulative tubs and all the students went crazy.
They wanted me to share a story with Katie (one I wrote about when Katie and I were younger and wanted to build a hamster maze). Then they asked Katie a bunch of questions about me. Because I am such an awesome teacher, I then let them play Heads-Up-Seven-Up. I had a fun day with my students. I took a picture with them to remember the good times.
After school I had Parent Teacher Conferences from 4-7:30. Yes, I know, just what everyone wishes for on their birthday. I had conferences on Tuesday as well and I have to say that all of my conferences this year have been pretty positive. I truly have a great bunch of students with supportive parents. I love it.
I came home around 8pm to a decorated apartment. My roommates and I wanted to go do something but were all pretty tired so instead, I just got Frosties and we celebrated at home. It was a long day, on top of a long week. Let's just say that over the weekend I have been catching up on my sleep. It has been wonderful.
Paul bought me a GPS and I am so excited to be able to use it. I want to go driving around and go to these random places just so I can use it, but then realize how much I hate buying gas. I love little gadgets. He also took me to the Olive Garden today for lunch. My birthday has turned into a week long celebration. I feel so spoiled.
